Crane roll traps two
Two men were trapped under a 45 tonne truck crane in the hills near Bakersfield, California yesterday.
The crane - a 1970s vintage Grove TMS 475 owned by a construction company - was travelling down the hills towards McKittrick, Kern County, when it strayed too close to the edge of the road when it became stuck. The two men were attempting to extract it when one side sank into the soft ground causing it to overturn, with the boom landing on one man trapping him under the crane, while the driver was stuck in his cab.
