Non stowed rule for Singapore
Singapore has ruled that all trucks fitted with loader cranes will have to be equipped with a “crane not stowed” warning alert in the cab from the start of next year.
The warning came from the Land Transport Authority yesterday, which also confirmed that all existing trucks must also be fitted with the limit switches /system by the end of September. The requirement calls for either a simple buzzer when the crane is not fully stowed, OR for those cranes used with the boom left horizontal over the truck bed, an angle sensor must be fitted to the base boom sections which alerts the driver when the height of the crane is excessive
The warning system aims to reduce bridge bashing following at least 20 incidents of cranes serious damaging overhead road structures since 2013.
