Greenpeace occupies tower crane

Seven Greenpeace protesters have scaled a tower crane near the White House in Washington DC, and installed a massive banner along the jib with the word ‘Resist’.

The demonstrators managed to enter the job site early this morning and are fully equipped with professional climbing and abseiling equipment and were seen suspended from the jib.

Greenpeace has taken responsibility for the protest, a spokesman said that the action is a continuation of protests that began with the inauguration of Donald Trump last week. It comes a day after Trump delayed implementation of at least 30 environmental rules and froze Environmental Protection Agency contracts and grant awards. Greenpeace said: “This action is against Trump’s climate denial, racism, misogyny, homophobia, and bigotry. Greenpeace has used nonviolence to resist tyrannical bullies since 1971, and we're not going to stop now."

I see that sign and to me it says 'Resist Greenpeace' - perhaps a sign saying 'Resist Trump' would have had a more desired effect!
