Fibre rope for AT

Swedish crane rental company Lambertsson Kran has taken delivery of a 100 tonne Grove GMK4100L-1 All Terrain crane fitted with Samson's new K-100 rope fibre rope, one of the first times that the rope has installed on an All Terrain crane.

The four axle crane features a 60 metre main boom and 11.1 to 17.6 metre telescopic swingaway extension. Both hoists will be fitted with the new synthetic rope which is 80 percent lighter than regular wire rope and features torque-neutral technology, eliminating load spin. The rope also requires no lubrication, which Lambertsson claims is a major reason for it choosing it.

Regional manager Claes Jakobsson said: “The GMK4100L-1 is a compact crane and ideal for lifting jobs in the city, and in factories with tight working quarters. With the K-100 rope, we can reduce the weight of the crane and carry more counterweight, which will help us as we primarily use the Grove as a taxi crane performing lifts in the city of Malmö. The rope will also make it easier for the operator to reeve the jib and hook blocks.”
