New Liebherr for Sönke Jordt
German crane rental and heavy haulage company Sönke Jordt has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1 All Terrain crane.
The five axle crane features a 60 metre main boom and a hydraulic luffing bi-fold swingaway extension, which can be extended to 50 metres with inserts, all of which can offset by up to 45 degrees. It is also equipped with Liebherr's VarioBase outrigger set-up system. In addition to the 250 tonner, the company has a 45 tonne Liebherr LTF 1045-4.1 truck mounted crane and a 50 tonne LTC 1050-3.1 city type All Terrain crane on order.
Managing director Sönke Jordt said: "The LTM 1250-5.1 is the most powerful mobile crane on five axles on the market. The road licensing procedure would be a great deal more complicated for a six axle crane. The five axle version gives us greater flexibility since we are not limited to driving at night and it requires fewer personnel. The lattice extension will enable us to tackle new types of work. We are also planning to use the new crane for repairs to wind turbines."

Tim Jordt added: "Sites are becoming smaller and smaller. We are now using lots of cranes which have Liebherr's variable support base. We also ordered the LTM 1250-5.1 with VarioBase. It delivers greater flexibility and safety for the crane driver and greater capacity for lifts directly above the outriggers."
Sönke Jordt was founded in 1994 and has a rental fleet of 11 All Terrain crane ranging from 30 to 250 tonnes. The company also provides machinery and heavy haulage services.
