Leavit acquires Pacific from Barnhart
Canadian based Leavitt Cranes has acquired the assets of Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment from Barnhart Crane & Rigging of Memphis, Tennessee.
The move follows Barnhart’s 2015 acquisition of Sicklesteel Cranes, which included Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment. Barnhart had always intended to focus on its core mobile crane business and therefore has been looking for a buyer for the Sicklesteel tower crane divisions. The sale to Leavitt makes it one of the largest tower crane dealers in the Pacific Northwest. As part of the deal, the majority of Pacific employees and key managers will stay with the business and join Leavit, including Thom Sicklesteel who has been appointed general manager for Leavitt Cranes’ operations in the United States.
Leavitt Cranes is part of the family owned Leavitt Machinery group which is headquartered in Coquitlam in British Columbia close to the US/Canada – Washington State border. It now operates throughout the Pacific Northwest, with locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington and Oregon. With the Pacific deal it acquires an additional tower crane division in Washington and the crane business will operate from a large facility in Tacoma, Washington which will host the operations and service teams. In addition Leavitt Cranes plan to establish a base in Mount Vernon to support the administration and management.
Leavitt represents Terex, Kroll, Manitex, Jekko, Smartlift, Manitou telehandlers and JLG aerial work platforms. along with Butti under hook attachments and accessories. It offers a full range of flat top, hammerhead, luffing jib and self-erecting tower cranes, as well as and spider cranes.
Chief executive Tom Leavitt said: “The acquisition of Pacific Tower Crane and Pacific Lift Equipment brings new opportunities to Leavitt Cranes, as well as new opportunities to customers. As with Leavitt Machinery and Cranes provide customers with a variety of industry leading brands which means the customer comes first. It is my hope that with an increased product line and multiple brands to serve them, customers will have more options and will benefit from an increased product offering.”
Leavitt senior vice president Bob McIntosh added: “The staff coming over from Pacific Tower Cranes and Pacific Lift Equipment possess extensive industry experience, along with valuable customer relationships. We are very fortunate that the majority of the staff have chosen to stay on and become a part of the Leavitt team.
