First Liebherr

UK rental company Ellis Crane Hire has taken delivery of its first Liebherr crane, a 40 tonne LTM 1040-2.1 All Terrain crane.

The two axle LTM 1040-2.1 offers a 35 metre four section main boom and was specified with Liebherr’s VarioBase infinite outrigger set up system. It will be based at the company's location in Gloucester.

The LTM 1040-2.1 is delivered

Owner Simon Ellis said: “We are pleased to add this 40 tonner to our fleet. We have been buying cranes for over 30 years and All Terrain cranes for around 15 years. We have had many discussions with Liebherr during that period and felt that now is the right time to introduce one into our fleet. The compactness and agility of the crane is everything you would expect for a crane in this category but the capability of the VarioBase system and resulting duty charts has to be seen to be believed!”

“It has already enhanced the scope of work we can consider, helping to keep the crane busy from day one. The computer system and controls look a bit daunting at first, compared to some of its rivals but they are more user friendly than they look.
