Another roof washer

Spotted early this week in Pontefract, UK a man pressure washing moss from a steep roof with questionable fall protection.

It seems the man had climbed up on the roof from some form of tube and clamp scaffold and a ladder, to be fair to him he was wearing a harness, but the question is what is he tethered to?

Where is he anchored to?

In the words of our correspondent: “I Came across this joker working in Pontefract West Yorkshire yesterday Jet washing a roof, no fall protection a what looked like a self-erected tower scaffolding to his credit he had a harness on but it was attached to the tower scaffold so what good it would have done him I have no idea.”

It actually looks as though the long lanyard runs over the back of the roof? Hopefully to a secure anchor, what looks like a long lanyard to the scaffold might actually be the water line?

The man's harness was tethered with to the scaffold tower with a long lanyard

We see these roof washing contractors regularly, occasionally they have taken fall protection seriously, but all too often they gamble on the rubber soles of their shoes to save their souls! Perhaps in this case we ought to give him the benefit of the doubt, rather than adding him to our Death Wish Series

Have a safe weekend

Tube and clamp scaffolding is not permitted in the UK unless it has been designed by a structural engineer.
