New MD for SMIE

Tower crane anti-collision and management system manufacturer SMIE has appointed Jean-Charles Delplace as managing director.

Delplace, 44, re-joins SMIE from Smart Jobsite, the business he co-founded in 2015, where he was also chief executive. He began his career in 2005 as a consultant with Cetim, Technical Centre for the Mechanical engineering Industry moving to SMIE in 2010 as general manager. A year and half later he moved to safety systems manufacturer Ascorel as the business unit manager, switching to Trimble navigation and tracking systems after six months. Just over three years later he left to set up Smart Jobsite.

The move follows the recent departure from SMIE of chief executive Fabrice Bonassera.
