IPAF Asia Conference and film premiere

IPAF’s Asia Conference opened today – Thursday - in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with around 350 participants expected to attend and includes the world premiere of a new short film warning of cutting corners when using aerial work platforms.

The film, developed by IPAF members in Malaysia, depicts an employee who complains to his employer about a flickering light, and follows two very different scenarios: In one the man is given a scissor lift in very poor condition and told to get on with the job without any training, in the other the employer engages a reputable rental company and offers his employee IPAF operator training. The outcomes are unsurprisingly very different.


The conference is part of a two day IPAF Asia Conference and Showcase, hosted in conjunction with the Master Builders Association Malaysia which opened yesterday with exhibits from around 30 members, and was followed by a dinner.

Speakers at the conference will include Kang Han Fei of Aerial Lift & Equipment, Janne Haapalainen of Scan-Rent, Johnson Lai of Keng Guan Skylift and Tan Kee Chong of OSH Specialist Department at Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower.

IPAF chief executive Tim Whiteman said: “This is another excellent occasion in IPAF’s burgeoning global events calendar. IPAF has an engaged and vibrant membership in Malaysia and Singapore, so it made perfect sense to bring the event to this country for the first time, and it has once again been a great success.
