Aertssen acquires Michielsens crane

Belgian crane rental, transport and construction group Aertssen has acquired the crane rental business of Michielsens.

The deal, signed on Friday the 16th, February following several months of negotiations, includes the ongoing crane business and associated assets but does not include of affect Allift Michielsens, the aerial work platform sales and rental business.

Michielsens is among the three largest crane rental companies in Belgium, with 200 employees and revenues in 2016 of around €24 million. Aertssen is a contracting company with additional crane rental, transportation, logistics, green energy and real estate activities. The company operates in more than 20 countries, employs 1,350 people, at branches in Flanders and Wallonia, Belgium, plus the Middle East and Morocco with revenues of €232 million in 2016.

Chief executive Greg Aertssen said: "With the current employees and the retention of their own identity and customers, Michielsens intends to become an independent business unit in the Aertssen Group that is very complementary to our customers. The acquisition is a strategically important step and underlines the growth ambition of our family business, both in Belgium and abroad."
