JLG launches fall arrest system
JLG has launched the Bolt On Fall Arrest System, which allows the occupant of a boom lift to exit the platform at height and step onto adjacent structures while remaining tied off to a lanyard anchor point on the platform.
The system consists of two steel brackets connected by a 1.8 metre cable with a sliding ring that can move from one end of the cable to the other. The company says that attaching the lanyard to the ring gives the operator more room to move around and allows them to perform tasks outside of the platform and are ideal for applications such as aircraft inspection and service, roof installation or repair, chimney repair, bridge construction and steel erection.

The External Bolt-On Fall Arrest System meets both ANSI A92.5 and CSA B354.4-02 North American standards and can be installed to any 0.9 by 1.82 metre or 2.44 metre JLG platform. The system is portable and can be moved from one platform to another, doesn’t require a specially reinforced platform and doesn’t affect platform capacity.
Senior product manager for booms Bill Dovey said: “Machine operators can often save time by having access beyond the work platform. Our External Bolt On Fall Arrest System gives operators the confidence to manoeuvre safely and securely outside the platform.”
