Scissor lift shocks
Two men working with a scissor lift were badly burnt yesterday in the town of Andrews, to the north of Adelaide in South Australia.
What the men were doing at the time is not known at this stage, but it seems that they were elevating the platform from the base controls yesterday afternoon, when it contacted the overhead power lines. The power flowed down through the lift to earth giving both men substantial electric shocks and burns on the way.
The emergency services arrived on the scene and immediately called in a helicopter to airlift them to hospital. One man is reported to have burns to his abdomen, while the other has an exit wound on his foot where the electricity passed to ground.
Both men were conscious when they boarded the helicopter and while they sustained serious injuries they are not thought to be life threatening.
