Another new Raimondi luffer

Raimondi Cranes has unveiled a new high capacity luffing jib tower crane, the 370 tonne/metre – 20 tonne max capacity LR372.

The new crane has a maximum jib length of 60 metres with a jib tip capacity of 3,795kg in ‘Ultralift mode’. The crane can be installed on the two metre square GR5H tower with internal climbing system or the 2.3 metre GR6 tower series for standard, external, and internal climbing configurations.

The GR6L towers can be installed on embedded legs and on an 8 x 8 in addition to the new 6 x 6 meter strut cross base with or without travelling system. The GR5H towers can be installed on embedded elements and on a 6 x 6 meter strut cross base.

The LR372’s luffing movement, using the new 75kW winch equipped with a standard emergency brake, luffing from 14.5 to 85 degrees takes 2.1 minutes with full load.
The main hoist/winch is powered by a high efficiency 110 kW motor, 880 metres rope storage capacity, and is equipped with the hydraulic emergency brake as standard. This allows the new crane to work up to a height of 380 metres with two falls and 820 metres on single fall, maximum lift speed is 256 metres a minute. The slew function is driven by the twin inverter controlled motors with a maximum speed of 0.8 rpm.”

The first two LR372s are due to be delivered to Raimondi’s South Korean agent, Hansung Prime for large scale development in Busan. The new cranes will be installed at heights of 222 and 228 metres respectively, with the company’s EC6L external climbing system.

Raimondi chief executive Domenico Ciano said: “Following our internal tests and procedural checks, the LR372 has been going through the testing phase for the past three months. This short period of time was possible due to the crane’s main design engineering aspects being based on the luffing LR330 that was launched last year.”

In order to address the technical aspects of the crane’s enhanced design we worked closely with our suppliers to develop a new motor that would optimise winch performance, while reducing energy consumption now implemented in both the LR372 and the LR330. Raimondi’s engineering team completed the design of our new LR372 in six months, including the new winches installed on the LR372. We have invested more than 2,000 hours between the mechanical and control system designs with a major focus on ease of use, maintenance accessibility, and structural strength.”

Chief commercial officer Mauro Masetti added: “In terms of market relevance, the new LR372 is advantageous as it shares much of the same components of the latest Raimondi models. This allows our customers to build on their existing fleets while ensuring parts communality and servicing familiarity with Raimondi’s latest technologies. In addition to our early success in South Korea, we anticipate that clients in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will find that the LR372 meets their needs.”
