ALE to open Swedish office

ALE is to open a new office in Gothenburg, Sweden later this year.

The new operation will piggy back on a project the company has won involving installation work on the new 350 metre long vertical lift bridge Hisingsbron bridge, which will connect central Gothenburg with Hisingen city on the other side of the Gota river on Sweden’s west coast. The new bridge has been designed with an estimated life span of 120 years and will be wide enough to carry trams, buses, cars, pedestrians and cyclists. The central lifting span or deck will be 37 metres wide and comprise a two metre high and 28 metre wide steel box sub structure. It will have a lift height of almost 30 metres.

It will replace the existing Göta älv bridge, which is in poor condition and needs replacement to avoid high maintenance costs. The $529 million project is set to be completed by 2022 and will be managed by Skanska.

ALE has had a presence in Scandinavia, since it opened its operations in Stavanger, Norway in 2011.
