Loading overturn
A crane overturned from a trailer yesterday in Port Everglades, Florida, while being loaded/unloaded.
The crane, a two axle Tadano Rough Terrain, was on the lowboy before raising its boom to around 45 to 55 degrees. It seems the trailer suspension compressed/subsided on one side causing the crane to tip onto its side. The police say that around 200 litres of diesel was spilled, but was contained and cleaned up relatively quickly. The tractor trailer came from the Sims Crane fleet, we have asked the company for a comment on the incident, but so far have received no response.

The crane operator, 46, was injured and taken to hospital, but we understand that his injuries are “not too serious”. No-one else was involved in the incident and damage was limited to the crane, and possibly the trailer.

Red
Or maybe another incompetent operator with no clue as to weight, height and balance.
Pemby
maybe the legs should have been out due to the raised boom - at the least, the trailer suspension (if has control) dropped to reduce lateral possible movement?
