The incident occurred on the Valaris JU-120, which is owned by UK based Valaris. It went into service in 2013 as Ensco 120 and was renamed when the company – Ensco Rowan – changed its name to Valaris last July.
The rig has three 70 ton/63.5 tonne cranes, one with a 36 metre boom and two with 43 metre booms. At this point we do not know which of them was involved. The rig is currently contracted to Chrysaor in the J Area of the central North Sea.
