First GMK5250XL in Germany
German crane rental company BKL Baukran Logistik has taken delivery of the first five axle 250 tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1 All Terrain crane to be delivered in Germany.
Ordered at its launch at Bauma last year, the GMK 5250XL is an updated version of the company’s GMK5250L, offering an eight section 78.5 metres main boom - 8.5 metres more the regular L model - topped by an 18 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be extended to 34 metres with additional inserts. Features include the company’s MAXbase variable outrigger setup, Megatrak suspension with all wheel steering and Twin lock boom pinning system.
The new GMK5250XL-1 went straight out on a job, assisting the construction of a 1,280 metre bridge spanning the Rhine on the A643, connecting Mainz and Wiesbaden.
