Boom truck failure in Tennessee
Two people were injured on Friday when a boom truck broke away from its truck chassis on a job in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The crane, owned by TD Crane Service, was working on the construction of a home in Hixon, on the north side of Chattanooga for R&M Homes. It was lifting a plywood panel when the crane's connection to the chassis or another structural failure, caused the entire crane to break free, with the boom dropping onto the house knocking a construction worker off the upper floor and causing him to suffer what the emergency services described as a “traumatic injury”.

Another man required treatment for a less serious head injury as a result of flying debris, both were taken to hospital. The local fire department chief described the structural failure as “a catastrophic failure on the crane's turntable.”
