Tony Blair opens UpRight plant
Tony Bair formally opened the new UpRight Vigo plant on Friday spending an hour touring the facility and speaking to employees.
Managing director Darren Kell, said “We were delighted to welcome The Prime Minister to officially open the Vigo Centre. He spent an hour with myself and our chairman, Roy Stanley, touring the 23,000sq metre factory and speaking to our colleagues in the offices and on the shop floor. He was extremely well-informed about aerial work platforms”.

Addressing the workforce, Blair said: "In the years to come, this operation is absolutely where the future will be. It is fantastic that you have built up this company so quickly. This will be a company that will really make its presence felt not just in the North East, but actually throughout the world."
The visit came in the same week as the new UpRight celebrated its biggest weekly order intake to date, booking forward orders for 1,300 units worth €14 million.
