Crane boom lands on home

A Rough Terrain crane overturned while extracting piles on a site in Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, yesterday with the boom landing on a home across the street and injuring a one year old baby girl. The boom and the pile extracting equipment smashed a pole mounted electrical transformer next to the house causing it to catch fire.

The baby’s mother happened to be with the baby at the time of the accident but was unhurt and was able to grab the child and escape.

The local police said that the crane operator apparently lost control of the crane while extracting piling and added adding that not only are they investigating in the cause of the incident but may charge the operator with professional negligence resulting in injuries.
