New Liebherr for Crowland

UK rental company Crowland Cranes has taken delivery of a 60 tonne Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 All Terrain crane for its new depot Norwich.

The company had been renting a site near Norwich city centre, however after ‘testing the waters’ it has purchased a site on the Bowthorpe Industrial Estate. The 5,000 square metre site includes dedicated office space and more than 550 square metres of workshop area.

Rob Smith of Crowland Cranes said: “After testing the water and expanding both assets and staff, it became apparent that Norwich would work as our third depot. We have been looking for 18 months or so, for a site that worked for us, with good main road access for our cranes, together with hard standing, and ideally workshop and office space. Ticking all of these boxes has proved very difficult, and we looked to be going down the road of a green field site within a new industrial development, until we found this site.”

Crowland Cranes' new depot in Norwich

Shortly after moving into its new premises the company took delivery of a new three axle LTM 1060-3.1. With a five section 48 metre main boom and a 16 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, it provides a maximum tip height of 67 metres and a maximum radius of 48 metres. Features include VarioBase outrigger setup and Liebherr engine shutdown systems.

Crowland Cranes’ director, Peter Issitt, added: “This is our third LTM1060-3.1, it joins our existing and growing fleet operating from our new Norwich depot. Crowland clients can now enjoy the Liebherr LTM1060-3.1 model from all three of our depots. We are experiencing more and more clients are requesting the Liebherr product, with this in mind, we do expect additional units to be added to as demand increases.”

Based in Peterborough, Crowland Cranes operates throughout the east of England region with depots in Crowland, Bury St Edmunds and its new location in Norwich. The company runs a fleet of All Terrain and crawler cranes, and is also a dealer for Grove, Terex and Ormig cranes and runs a major crane repair, test and rebuild centre.
