A crane’s lattice boom buckled while lifting a decommissioned aircraft at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad, India on Sunday, dropping it onto a wall.
The plane an old Air India Airbus A320 was being transported to a nearby flight training centre, it was reported to weigh around 20 tonnes – the complete aircraft weighed 42 tonnes when empty - and was raised to a height of around 10 metres.. As the crane began to slew the lateral forces caused the boom to buckle to the side.
