In its grab or dragline configuration it offers a maximum boom length of 55.1 metres.

Chief executive Sajil Salim said: “Our investments in four duty cycle cranes in less than a year is a major step for us and an unusual move in our industry because they happened at the peak of the pandemic. Fortunately, the dynamic compaction market was resilient during the last year, and we expect our four duty cycle cranes to be busy on soil improvement sites and duty cycle jobs throughout 2021.”

Kurt Rudigier, Liebherr area sales manager of crawler and foundation cranes, added: “Duty cycle crawler cranes are among Liebherr’s best selling equipment in the Middle East, and we have sold over 200 such cranes in the region. This deal is special because Salim Equipment Rental placed the order for their first two duty-cycle cranes last year during one of the most challenging market conditions in recent years, when business owners were dealing with uncertainty. Despite the circumstances, Salim Equipment Rental went ahead with the deal, and we delivered the machines in August 2020.”

Previously part of AAA Rentals, Salim was established as a used crane sales company in 1980. In the intervening years it sold more than 1,000 used Tadano and Kato cranes across the Middle East and North Africa before entering the crane rental market in 2006, when it was also appointed as a Kato distributor. A year earlier Japanese heavy equipment sales and rental company Daikyo Kenki formed a trading partnership with Salim. It morphed into a full joint venture in 2015 to provide operated cranes throughout the Middle East and entered the duty cycle and dynamic compaction market in 2020. It currently runs a fleet of seven crawler cranes with capacities from 50 to 250 tonnes.
