Cybersecurity incident at Manitowoc
Manitowoc has reported that it has experienced a “cybersecurity incident" within its systems and that it is working to restore everything, however has warned that it may cause delays and disruption to business.
The statement from the company is as follows: “The Manitowoc Company experienced a cybersecurity incident, resulting in a systems outage. Upon identifying the issue, the company promptly engaged an industry leading third-party information technology firm and forensics specialist and legal counsel to assist in the investigation. Federal law enforcement has been notified, and the company is diligently working to restore its systems. This matter has caused and may continue to cause a delay or disruption to the company’s business.”
“The company considers the security and integrity of its network among its highest priorities and is taking all appropriate actions to minimize its risk.”
This incident sounds as though it might be similar to the one that knocked Palfinger’s systems out for two weeks in January - see:
Palfinger back on track. It also highlights the importance of being alert to such occurrences, although dealing with them in advance can - we understand - be extremely challenging. What we can all do is make sure that systems are kept regularly updated, especially those affecting security.
