53 new cranes for Maxim

US based rental company Maxim Crane Works has started receiving the first units of an order for 51 Grove All Terrain and Rough Terrain cranes and two Manitowoc crawlers.

The Grove order includes a mix of five and six axle long boomed All Terrain cranes including the 150 tonne GMK5150L, 250 tonne GMK5250XL-1, and 300 tonne GMK6300L, as well as a number of larger Rough Terrains, including the 100 tonne GRT8100, 120 tonne GRT8120, 150 tonne, three axle GRT9165. Scheduled for delivery over the next 24 months, the new cranes are aimed at expanding the fleets of several newly opened locations across the country. Maxim has also ordered two 650 tonne Manitowoc MLC650 crawler cranes for delivery this year.

One of the first units to be delivered - a Grove GRT 8100 - leaves the Shady Grove plant

Maxim chief executive Bryan Carlisle said: “We evaluated each category of our current rental fleet and analysed research data and conversations with our customers to determine what cranes they would need to meet their lifting needs for the next five years. Based on the data, we felt that the combination of large RT and AT cranes from Grove would enable us to maximise our uptime, increase our ‘rental readiness’ and provide the equipment that would be most versatile throughout the entire Maxim footprint.”

Chief operating officer Frank Bardonaro added: “Maxim will continue to focus on successfully executing our long term strategic planning by adding the best equipment and people available in the industry. Bryan and our team evaluated each product available and determined that the combination of cranes chosen would be a perfect addition to our fleet.”
