Denmark’s largest renter?
DNE Materieludlejning of Roskilde and JJ Maskinudlejning of Karlslunde, two of Denmark’s larger rental companies, have announced that they plan to merge with the shareholders of each company holding 50 percent of the equity in the combined business.
DNE operates from nine locations seven of which are located in Jutland and Fyn while JJ has seven locations all of which are in Zealand. Although there is some overlap between two locations the plan is to maintain the network of 16 possibly adding to it in the months ahead.
With revenues at DNE of DK143 million (€19.2 million) in 2005/6 and JJ estimated to be the larger of the two in revenue terms, the merged company could have sales exceeding €50 million rivaling Rami Rent for the market leadership in Denmark. The business will have around 200 employees.
Both companies operate fleets of telescopic handlers and aerial lifts with a good deal of similarity in fleet makeup. Both are good Manitou customers buying almost all their telehandlers and increasing their boom lifts from the French company.
The combined aerial lift fleet is estimated at over 650 units made up largely of Manitou and Genie booms, Genie and Manitou scissors and Omme trailer lifts.
The merged entity has initially been given the name DNE-JJ but this could change by the time the transaction is completed around mid-year.
DNE is owned by managing director Ole Staxen, while JJ is owned by Jens Johansen and his family. Johansen founded JJ in 1980, with the company celebrating its 25th anniversary last February.
