Skyjack upgrades SJ12 and SJ16

Skyjack unveiled upgraded versions of its 12 and 16ft mast type lifts at the ARA show in Las Vegas yesterday.

The new SJ12E and SJ16E models adopt the same new technology that was introduced with the company’s all new SJ20 in February. Those changes include AC direct electric wheel motor drive with 90 degree front wheel steering which provides a 30 percent or more improvement in duty cycles, for longer working time between recharges and lower power consumption.

The direct electric drive system also reduces the number of hydraulic connections by almost 70 percent, providing a substantial reduction in the risk of leaks.

The new machines have an overall width of 770mm, a length of 1.37 metres and a stowed height of 1.88 metres, while they weigh 900kg and 931kg respectively. The new simpler mast design with multistage hydraulic cylinder lift, also means that the top of the mast no longer extends above the guardrails, which can create an issue when working through false ceiling tiles etc… A standard dual load cell overload system incorporates both indoor and outdoor ratings, the SJ12E comes with an outdoor rating as standard, while the SJ16E and SJ20E feature an optional wind rating for one person.

Product manager Rafael Bazzarella added: “Together with the addition of our optional ‘Ecotray’ and biodegradable oil, these new models offer a high Return on Investment while reducing the overall environmental impact. Both units also incorporate a multi-stage hydraulic lift cylinder, which eliminates chains, cables sheaves and rollers, reducing maintenance needs.”
