JCB boom for N. America

JCB has launched an articulating boom lift for the North America market in the form of the 48ft AJ48D.

The AJ48D features a dual riser plus a two section telescopic boom and an articulating jib. It offers a working height of 16.7 metres, an outreach of 8.3 metres at an up & over height of 7.5 metres with an unrestricted platform capacity of 250kg. Weighing 7,885kg, it has a stowed length of 7.35 metres, a width of 2.26 metres and a height of 2.23 metres.

Built for the North American market, it is fitted with a Tier 4f Kohler engine and features four wheel drive, 40 percent gradeability, an electronic secondary guarding system and the company’s LiveLink telematics system. It also features a colour display screen that provides a range of information, such as the load in the basket and diagnostics.

The JCB AJ48D

Ashby Graham, general manager of product and marketing at JCB North America, said: “The JCB AJ48D, as well as our complete range of scissor lifts, have been designed in response to our customer’s requests". “By adding this machine to our fleet, we have the ability to offer our customers an exceptional articulated boom with unmatched control, efficiency, and safety features that epitomizes the world-class standards of JCB.”

Some of you may recall JCB showing a 50ft AJ50D boom lift at Conexpo 2017, where it announced plans to add a further four articulated and 10 telescopic models shortly afterwards, but for whatever reason this was not to be.

We contacted JCB regarding any future developments and were informed simply to ‘watch this space…!’
