First Maeda crawler for Hird
UK sales and rental company Hird has taken delivery of its first Maeda mini crawler crane, a 4.9 tonne CC985S-1. The company also added its fifth all electric 2.82 tonne MC285CB-3 Eco spider crane to its fleet and ordered Maeda’s latest all electric
2.98 tonne MC305CB-3, scheduled for delivery in January.
The CC985S-1 features a five section 15.78 metre boom plus a telescopic boom extension to provide a maximum tip height of just over 22 metres. Features include a 2,000kg searcher hook, a compact working footprint, near zero tail swing and the ability to pick & carry up two tonnes.

The MC285CB-3’s lithium-ion battery pack provides up to 8.5 hours of continuous operation, while the MC305CB-3’s provides more than 14.5 hours with charging taking 3.5 and 4.5 hours respectively. They join a further 60 Maeda spider cranes in the company’s fleet.

Andy Crane, Kranlyft UK sales executive, added: “We are delighted that Hird has taken the decision to expand their range into crawler cranes. Hird are Kranlyft UK’s biggest customer and they now have over 60 Maeda spider cranes within their rental fleet.”
Based in Hull, with additional locations in Doncaster, Redhill Surrey and Halesowen, Hird is the UK distributor for Valla pick & carry cranes and Winlet glazing robots. It also has a rental fleet of more than 160 spider and pick & carry cranes, as well as a fleet of 580 access platforms.
