Klubb takes Mondia Wallonie

French aerial work platform manufacturer Klubb has acquired its Belgian distributor, Mondia Wallonie.

Mondia Wallonie is based in Liège and specialises in the distribution, rental and service of self-erecting tower cranes, representing both Potain and French manufacturer Speed Crane. More recently it has built up a vehicle mounted sales and rental operation offering Isoli truck mounted lifts alongside Klubb van and truck mounts.

The Mondia facilities in Liège

Mondia Wallonie was one of Klubb’s first distributors, when it was appointed in 2016. The company can trace its roots back to the 1950s when a M J Germay established a material handling business in Liège. The business was taken over in 1967 and Mondia created. In 1993 the business was acquired by the crane rental company Van de Whege and became Mondia Liège, changing to Mondia Wallonie in 2009 when it was appointed as the Potain self-erecting tower crane distributor. The Klubb and Speed Crane distributorships came seven years later.

This is the second distributor that Klubb has acquired, having purchased its UK distributor CPL in 2017. Mondia’s current director Thierry Pirenne and his entire team will continue to manage the company.

Klubb chief executive Julien Bourrellis said: "We are very happy with this transaction which will allow the two companies to capitalise on strong synergies to accelerate sales in Belgium. Mondia Wallonie was one of the first companies to believe in Klubb products and this acquisition represents the logical continuation of a solid and lasting relationship between the two companies."

This is the first major expansion investment from Klubb since it received a substantial capital injection from private equity firm Andera Partners this summer.
