Platform rescue

A man was rescued from a truck mounted platform that had lost stability and tilted over in Eindhoven, the Netherlands on Tuesday.

It seems that the lift - a Custers utility platform owned by specialist contractor Heijmans - was working alongside a similar machine when it lost stability and tipped dramatically over the road but somehow remained teetering on the edge of stability. The man’s colleague working from the other platform tried to rescue him but quickly realised that such an effort might cause the machine, which was short rigged, to overturn completely.

The local fire and rescue department arrived on the scene and stabilised the stricken machine with a loader crane before using one of its rescue platforms to extract the man.
