Maeda extends range
Kranlyft has told Vertikal.net that it will shortly begin importing two new Maeda LC compact crawler cranes into Europe. The new models will join the increasingly popular LC 785 crane, currently the only Maeda with a superstructure mounted cab.
The new models, one smaller and one larger, are the LC338M-3 which offers a maximum lifting capacity of 2.8 tonnes at 1.5 metres radius and sports a 6.7 metre three section telescopic boom.

The second new model is significantly larger than the other cranes in the Maeda range, the LC1385M-2 currently has a nominal rating of 4.9 tonnes, the same as the 785, however the rating is at three metres compared to two metres on the 785. At two metres the 1385 could easily justify a seven or eight tonne rating.

The crane is fitted with a 16 metre five section main boom and can lift 2.6 tonnes to full height. The load chart restricts pick and carry to a maximum of two tonnes, and the crane can lift 440 kgs to almost 16 metres radius.

At 2.48 metres wide, 2.85 metres high it is reasonable compact, GVW is 14,800kgs, making it similar in size to the eight tonne capacity Hitachi Sumitomo ZX160LCT which has not yet been a raging success.
