The initial order for four vehicles will be used in London, with further units scheduled for the Capital and elsewhere if they prove successful.
Ian Leonard, Speedy Hire’s head of transport, said: “It makes good commercial sense for companies to consider the impact they make on the environment".
"The introduction of measures such as the congestion charge provide incentives for businesses such as ourselves to look at alternatives to traditional means of making deliveries".
“Also, on major projects like the Olympics, customers are increasingly looking at ways to minimise the adverse environmental impact in all areas of their operations. We believe that initiatives such as these will give us a competitive advantage.”
Speedy says that it has reduced its CO2 emissions by 14 percent over the last five years it is continually looking at new and innovative ways to further reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
