Earlier this month 22 delegates from 16 countries met in Salzburg, Austria to agree a constitution for the Works Council. The next stage involves the preparation of the constitution by a team headed by Johannes Kücher the chairman of Palfinger’s Works Council in Austria, supported by Stoyan Petrov from Bulgaria and Domenico D'Antonio from Italy. Later this summer the council will elect a chairman and the board at its first constituent meeting, ready to begin its work.

Chief executive Andreas Klauser said: “It is important to have competent and widely recognised dialogue partners, especially in these challenging times. I am pleased that Palfinger employees across Europe will be able to speak with one voice.”

Kücher added: “Our goal is to inform all employees in Europe even better than before about important developments and to represent their shared interests efficiently. It was important to us that all the countries in which Palfinger is represented in Europe receive one vote. That has now been ensured. I am looking forward to working together.”
