Loader crane overturn
A car was struck by an overturning loader crane in Timaru, on South Island, New Zealand, last month.
We understand that the crane - a mid-range Palfinger owned by Hilton Haulage - was lifting nets on an open road in the port area on August 18th when it overturned. The outriggers were retracted on the side of the tip, but it is possible that they came in as the crane went over.

The outrigger beams might have retracted as the crane went over
Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, and the car, owned by a Hilton employee, was parked and not occupied at the time. The road was however blocked for some time while a recovery was carried out.

An investigation was conducted, but we have not yet seen the results.
