Dica acquires SlatTrax

US outrigger mat and ground protection specialist Dica has acquired the SlatTrax ground protection system from Minnesota based Property Props founded, owned and managed by Gary Ringus.

Ringus had a background as a senior manager in the food manufacturing industry, having worked with several large corporations before setting up Property Props to develop and patent the SlatTrax system that links heavy duty recycled HDPE plastic slats via a unique “spine and capture joint” that allows the tracking to not only be easily rolled out/unrolled, but also create curved tracks. Details of how the system works can be seen in the videos at the bottom of this item.

DICA has taken over all ongoing operations for the SlatTrax brand, while Ringus remains involved as a consultant and a manufacturer’s representative during the transition.

Speaking of the sale Ringus said: “I appreciate this opportunity to further develop SlatTrax products with a company that is aligned with my vision to create efficient and ergonomic ground protection solutions. Our common goal is to improve day to day operations for construction and maintenance crews.”

Dica chief executive Kris Koberg added: “This acquisition is a natural expansion of the DICA brand. SlatTrax provides temporary worksite access, minimises damage to lawns and gives crews a stable work surface. Durable and easy to handle, SlatTrax is a unique solution for companies that are working with light and medium duty equipment in a wide variety of industries. Earlier this year we moved to a new facility which doubled our production capacity. Our new facility enables us to increase SlatTrax product availability and shorten lead times. We are building inventory and soon, all standard products will be available to ship from stock.”

Marketing director Kevin Koberg added: “SlatTrax is not a mat, it is a temporary roadway made up of 12.5ft (3.8m) and 25ft (7.5m) sections. The sectional design makes the construction of the temporary roads highly efficient because the slats can be separated without the use of tools or easily combined to create longer roads.”
