The tree of Rome

Every year a Christmas tree is set up in front of the Altare della Patria in Rome’s Piazza Venezia, this year’s tree, installed late last week, is 22 metres high and decorated with 100,000 light bulbs.

Local rental company Titocci was given the responsibility to provide suitable work platforms to help safely install the tree, its lights and decorations. It selected two Multitel Pagliero telescopic truck mounted platforms from its fleet, a 35 metre J335 ALU with 22 metres of outreach, and a more recently purchased 37.5 metre MJ375 with 25.8 metres of outreach, both of which offer compact working footprints.

Titocci is the real deal when it comes to the provision of both cranes and aerial lifts, with a fleet that includes a full range of aerial work platforms - vehicle mounts, spider lifts, booms and scissors, as well as telehandlers and mobile cranes.

But perhaps more importantly

With just a week to go before Christmas, we are entering a period that all too often sees people lose their lives by taking unnecessary risks while working at height or carrying out lifts, as they rush to complete jobs before the holidays. Not only is it a tragic end for them, but it also devastates the lives of friends, colleagues and loved ones at a hopeful and positive time that should be full of love, peace and joyfulness.

Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland) or Victor Emmanuel II National Monument, was designed by architect Giuseppe Sacconi and built between 1885 and 1935 to honour Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy. It is located between the Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Hill and includes the altar to the goddess Rome, the tomb of Italy’s Unknown Soldier.
