XCMG ships second 600t tower crane

XCMG has shipped the second unit of its 600 tonne XGT15000-600S flat top tower crane developed in partnership with China Railway Major Bridge Engineering. The crane will be used on the construction Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, claimed to be the world's largest diamond-type cable stayed bridge.

The XGT15000-600S has a load moment of 15,000 tonne/metres with a maximum under hook height of 400 metres, although its free standing height is 92.5 metres. It can take 300 tonnes to a height of 300 metres and is designed to withstand Level 12 typhoon resistance in its full working condition. Maximum hoist speed is 31 metres a minute. A luffing jib can be added to the top of the crane as a support crane.

The first unit in action


The first XGT15000-600S launched in early June and shipped a month or so later, was deployed on the Chao-Ma railway bridge - part of the Ma'anshan Yangtze river bridge which includes both rail and road crossings. Both cranes have been equipped with integral operator lifts/elevators.
