ACRP votes for Self-Erector standard
In the USA the Association of Crane and Rigging Professionals (ACRP) at its 2007 General Assembly meeting voted to recommend to the ASME/ANSI B30 main committee that it consider the development of a new volume for self-erecting tower cranes.
ACRP suggests that the standard include, but not be limited to, self-contained and ballast-added types and trailer- mounted and self-propelled types.
The ACRP’s public safety committee has also begun drafting mobile crane inspection training guidelines which are expected to be presented at the association’s January 2008 board meeting.
A similar document offering guidelines for slings and rigging hardware has been approved. It addresses inspection intervals, proof testing and inspection requirements for slings and assemblies, rigging hardware, below-the-hook lifting devices, and auxiliary rigging equipment.
The document is free and will be available for download at the ACRP web site
