Techoil platforms for Riga trams
Specialist Italian work platform manufacturer Techoil has supplied two of its truck mounted VT75 big deck self-propelled platforms to Latvian tram and trolley bus company Rigas Satiksme.
Based in Riga, the company runs trolleybuses and trams throughout the city and has purchased the machines for the maintenance and repair work on the overhead lines. The units were sold through Techoil’s local partner HCT Automotive, which also distributes Niftylift boom lifts and Maeda spider cranes, while running a rental fleet.

the Techoil VT75 arrives in Latvia
The VT-75 has been designed to maintain overhead lines and offers a working height of up to 7.5 metres, it requires no outriggers and can travel with at up to 5kph with the platform raised. The platform is almost four metres long by just over a metre wide with a platform capacity of 450kg. The platform can also rotate through 180 degrees in either direction. It can also be insulated. The machine can also operate on slopes of up to five degrees and offers a hybrid power pack option.

two VT75 platforms at HTC Automotive’s premises
Based in Bertinoro, near Bologna Techoil was established in 2006 as a spin off from the original company. Techoil managing director Paolo Scogli said: "before we made the delivery, we held an on-site training course which made us even more proud of the work done, and which really made the new owners of the VT75 platforms understand the real potential of these splendid machines".
