1,600t Tadano for KGA/NBTC

The NBTC division of India’s KGA Group has ordered a 1,600 tonne Tadano CC 88.1600-1 crawler crane for a project in Kuwait.

The company also plans to use the big crane for a variety of infrastructure and oil projects throughout the entire Middle East, for both in-house projects and external clients. The new crane, previously known as the Demag CC8800 is the first brand new Tadano to join the company’s fleet, although it already owns three other Demag/Tadano lattice crawlers including two 650 tonne CC3800/CC3800-1 and a 400 tonne CC 2400-1. In total NBTC runs around 4,000 vehicles, including 200 cranes. The CC 88.1600-1 is scheduled to be delivered over the summer.

The Tadano CC 88.1600-1

This new crane will the 53rd CC 8800/CC 88.1600-1 delivered since it was upgraded to a 1,600 tonne crane in 2009, the original CC8800 was introduced as a 1,250 tonner in 2001. In the years since options such as a twin boom attachment and boom booster kit have been added as retrofittable capacity enhancement options, if and when required.

KGA Group founder and chairman K. G. Abraham said: “We not only have numerous Tadano All Terrain cranes in our fleet, but also the three big lattice boom crawler cranes that have demonstrated their incredible reliability and powerful performance characteristics time and time again for years now. The Tadano CC 88.1600-1 crawler crane represents a significant upgrade for the fleet with the crane’s enormous load moment of close to 27,500 tonne/metres. This performance level was one of the many reasons why we decided on the CC 88.1600-1 in order to take care of an upcoming large scale project, meaning that extremely demanding work is already awaiting the crane and its debut.”
