No outriggers caused Hull accident

Thanks to one of our readers we can now confirm details of what caused the aerial lift accident in Hull last week.
See original story
The lift, a 12 metre Aerial K12 trailer lift was set up without the outriggers being extended. The jacks were simply wound down in their retracted position, two men then full extended the machine to work on the Dairycoates pub on Hessle Road in Hull.

Naturally with close to full capacity and full extension the lift tipped seriously injuring the two men, one of whom remains in serious condition.

Vertikal Comment

The lift being used here looks like one that is owned rather than rented, in which case the operators should have been fully familiar with setting the machine up.

It is sad to see such an accident after the men have elected to use a safer method to carry out their work.

The key here is where the machine came from and how it was handed over to the two men.
