New subsidiary for Ladybird

UK tower crane sales and rental specialist Ladybird Cranes Group, has set up a new subsidiary - the Trailer Crane Company - to distribute the MiDi towable self-erecting tower crane product line. It will launch the new venture this week at Plantworx, the UK earthmoving and construction equipment show in Peterborough.

The MiDi LT14 at work...

The new company will focus on the Spanish manufacturer’s three model LT range, all of which have an overall road going weight of less than 3.5 tonnes. The line up includes the LT10, LT12 and LT14 which have hook heights with the horizontal jib of 10, 12 and 14 metres respectively. Lift heights of up to 20 metres are available with jib fully luffed. Maximum capacities are 400kg, 800kg/1,200kg and 1,500kg and maximum radii 10 metres on the LT10 and 14 metres on both the LT12 and LT14. Jib tip capacity is 300kg, 325kg and 350kg respectively.

The company said: “The key benefit of the cranes is the ability for the end user to be able to transport the crane themselves, behind a suitable pick-up truck or 4x4 vehicle, a major cost saving compared to other small cranes, that need low loaders or specialist transport to get to site.”

The LT14.14 RD and LT14.14 XP will be on the company’s stand this week, while at least one of them will also be exhibited at the Black Isle show near Inverness on 2-3 August.

MiDi cranes are manufactured by Euro Crane of Zaragoza and have been marketed under the MiDi brand since 2008. The company was established in 1965 by the Sarasa brothers as Industrias Hersa in the La Química district of Zaragoza. The first crane, a 500kg model, was launched in 1966.

Ladybird cranes dates back to 1977, although the group was set up in 2003. Based in Redditch its owned by the Bird family, led by Robert Bird. In 2018 it acquired Whitney Engineering, the UK dealer for Secatol lifting equipment, it offers both Potain self-erectors and mobile self-propelled models from Montarent.
