Short jib MCT 565
Potain has announced a new short jib version of its Chinese built MCT 565 flat top tower crane – the MCT 565A.
Launched in 2018, the MCT 565 is available in three versions, with maximum capacities of 20, 25, or 32 tonnes. The new 32 tonne 'A' model, can work with shorter jibs and counter-jibs, for compact sites, and higher capacities. The MCT 565A has a minimum jib length of 25 metres, compared to 30 metres on the standard model. At the same time the counter-jib can be shorter, with just 15 metres required for jib lengths up to 35 metres. The MCT 565A has a 30 metre jib tip capacity of 22.5 tonnes, compared to 19.7 tonnes on the regular model. It can also manage 28.4 tonnes at 25 metres, or 14.2 tonnes on a 45 metre jib - 1.1 tonnes more than the standard crane.

The new crane uses the same C tower/mast sections for an under height under hook of 74.2 metres, while assembly time is listed as two days. There is a choice of two winches: the 150 LVFC 80 FS, which is built at the Zhangjiagang factory, or the 150 HPL 80 from the Potain plant in France.
Brian Wang, senior vice president of emerging markets for Manitowoc said: “We have seen the emergence of these cranes spawn new ways of working in emerging markets. Through our Voice of the Customer process, we saw an opportunity to add increased appeal to the range. By introducing the compact MCT 565A, we are now offering greater choice in this class. The new model is positioned alongside the existing three MCT 565 options, allowing customers to choose the right crane for their specific job.”
“For customers who want to use the MCT 565 in shorter jib configurations this new MCT 565A is a great option. Others like the impressive reach of the 80 metre jib with the regular versions and the flexibility that brings.”
