100 tonne trio for Milplan

Brazilian rental company Milplan has taken delivery of two new 100 tonne Liebherr LRT 1100-2.1 Rough Terrain cranes, part of a three unit order that also includes a 100 tonne LTR 1100 telescopic crawler - all part of the company’s crane fleet expansion plans.

The LRT 1100-2.1s are equipped with 50 metre five section main booms, topped by 10.5 to 19 metre bi-fold swingaway extensions with up to 40 degrees of offset for a maximum tip height of just over 72 metres. Liebherr’s VarioBase automatically variable outrigger set up and tilting cab are standard.

The LTR 1100 has a 52 metre six section main boom and a 10.6 to 18.9 metre bi-fold extension, two additional seven metre insert sections can be added between boom nose and extension to take the maximum tip height to almost 88 metres.

Milplan chief executive Leonardo Mendes said: “We were looking for versatile and powerful cranes that would bring agility and strength to our operations. That’s why we opted for a telescopic crawler crane and two RT cranes. We aim to provide our customers with maximum availability, quick set-up times and maximum safety.”

Based in Belo Horizonte - due north of Rio de Janeiro - Milplan was established in 1982 and operates throughout Brazil serving major mining companies such as Vale, Anglo American and Hydro, oil & gas companies such as Petrobras and Cobra Brasil and major steel mills Usiminas and Gerdau.
