The three crane handover
The six axle GMK6400-1 will be based at the company’s depot in Graz, and features a five section 60 metre main boom, a new Stage V/Tier 4 Final diesel, MegaDrive hydrostatic drive train, Maxbase variable outrigger set up and CCS controls. It can be equipped with up to 79 metres of luffing jib for a 136 metre maximum tip height, while Grove’s Mega Wing Lift self-rigging Superlift system, increases lift capacities by up to 70 percent on the main boom and up to 400 percent on the luffing jib.
The two three axle 60 tonners will be based at Felbermayr’s Lanzendorf headquarters and cover the greater Vienna region. They feature seven section 48 metre main booms plus an 8.7 to 15 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for a maximum on board tip height of 65 metres. The crane can also travel with up to 7.5 tonnes of counterweight within 12 tonne axle weights.

Chief executive Peter Stoettinger said: “The GMK6400-1 offers exceptional lift capacities and unbeatable reach. Additionally, it has the impressive self-rigging MegaWingLift which can be assembled in less than 20 minutes. We saw a demonstration of the crane at Wilhelmshaven and had the opportunity to thoroughly inspect it. After this, we decided to purchase one. Some of the most reliable and powerful mobile cranes in the world are built here in Wilhelmshaven — and have been for some time — which is why we have steadily increased the number of Grove cranes in our fleet,”
“The Grove GMK3060L-1 cranes are extremely capable taxi cranes with up to 7.5 tonnes of counterweight — something no other manufacturer offers. With the hydraulically adjustable bi-fold swingaway jib, which is unique in this class, we can easily work over obstructions in the narrow Austrian city streets.”
Established in 1942, Felbermayr employs 2,700 across 68 sites in 18 European countries, with around 600 mobile cranes and 4,000 aerial work platforms plus telehandlers.
