Trackunit acquires installation company

Danish tracking, telematics and systems supplier Trackunit has acquired American mobile electronics installation company OEM Solutions Inc.

Chicago based OEMSi was founded in 2009, and now has a network of certified installers covering the USA and has recently expanded into Canada. The company installs, repairs and maintains a wide range of mobile electronic devices, from Trackunit GPS and telematics units, to alcohol detection and aftermarket electronics in the automotive sector. The move is intended to expand bolster Trackunit’s North American presence by providing greater geographic along with an inhouse installation service.

Co-founder and president Alex Mota said: “We’re so excited to be joining Trackunit after years of working together. This is a big step for us, but together, I am sure we’re going to be able to offer customers an even stronger proposition moving forward both in terms of service and in the longer term, geographical scope.”

Trackunit’s Mathias Frost added: “The industry in North America typically relies on third party service providers for IoT (Internet of Things) deployments, but with this move, we are changing the game by bringing OEMSI into Trackunit. Deployment and particularly the speed of deployment is a key barrier to reaping the economic value of IoT, especially for large fleet owners where inherent complexity presents additional challenges for connecting equipment to the cloud.”
