A crane operator died after collapsing in the cab of a container crane he was operating at Container Terminal 4 in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong yesterday - Tuesday January 2nd.
The man, who was named as Lee, 58, was miraculously spotted slumped against the cab door around 15 metres or so above the ground, allowing a relatively quick rescue. Resuscitation was attempted on site, but sadly he died in hospital a couple of hours later. It seems he had suffered a substantial heart attack, having apparently had a history of heart disease.
Lee had been a crane operator for more than 12 years and is reported to have worked 12 hours a day, five days a week.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
