Two men escaped serious injury in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday after the riser of the articulated boom lift they were working from was struck by a passing bus.
The men were working at a height of around three to four metres and were rescued from the platform by firemen using a ladder platform.
The machine - an 80ft JLG 800AJ from the Bercon Rentals fleet - was working on a residential construction site, but the operators had slewed the retracted lowered riser into the street which had not been cordoned off, nor had they organised a traffic spotter. The bus was damaged but none of the passengers on board were hurt. Both men in the platform were treated for minor injuries, while one was taken to hospital for further checks and/or treatment. The Ministry of Labour was notified.
